Review by Darlene Messenger Who Writes “A Lit Up Life”

by K.D. McCrite

I received “In Front of God and Everybody” in a complimentary e-galley format from Thomas Nelson Publishers through Netgalley for review purposes.

” In Front of God and Everybody” is laugh out loud funny. April Grace is a young farm girl with an inability to keep her thoughts to herself. April thinks out loud the thoughts we have about the people in our own lives and comes to the realization she is no different from them. In this case, her persistence saves the day while realizing her own character flaws.

April deals with farm life, quirky and contemptuous new neighbors, a gold-digging old man after Grandma, and a sister as sweet as a dill pickle. This story is a riotous romp through the Ozarks with good old-fashioned family values lived out in every day life. With quotes like,” How anyone can be that dumb and still be able to eat with a fork is beyond me.” you will laugh as I did, out loud and long. By the end of the novel, you too will become aware of the fact we all have preconceived notions about where people come from and how they act. This book shines the light of truth into our own character and should bring us to a place of humble reflection if not true repentance.

The character development of each person in this novel is superb. You get the feeling that you have met each of the characters at least once in real life. I became personally involved with each character right from the start and couldn’t wait to see how the book ended.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. K.D. McCrite has touched my heart by bringing back the memories of my own humble upbringing as well as revealled within me the failings of my character in making assumptions about the people I meet. This book convicts the soul while pointing us to the Lord God who loves each individual person no matter where they come from.
