I read and completely enjoyed your article in Christian fiction on-line magazine. “Kicking out excuses.” Me? You know, (over 50) dad, full time business 5 kids and all that’s connected etc.etc. Then one day woke up and said by-golly I’m going to write if it kills me. I write an on-line serial, an installment story that I squeeze between all the stuff I hate doing. It’s a good format for aspiring writers- especially if you like your story, but don’t have a solid ending- LOL. I have my own website and use a few photo’s in the story that my daughter took and have some background music as well. There are many ways to get your story looked at, you just need to be creative. I don’t have many readers yet but that doesn’t stop me from doing what I enjoy best- which is serving God through fiction. “Never put a dream on hold. Take hold of your dream.” Blessings. Noel
It can be so difficult to make the time to write when we have family, job, and many other responsibilities, but it sounds like you’re determined to make a go of it. In our modern world, we have so many more opportunities to share our writings than we had just a few years ago. I’ll visit your website, if you’ll send me a link.
Hiya, I am 12 years old and love your books.
Your ‘confessions of April Grace’ series is inspiring, you are an incredible author. The things April does and says reminds me of myself. I also have red hair too.
I got the first book given to me from youth group last year, read it in 2 days.
After quite alot of nagging and pleading, my sister bought the second book online for me. It came a few weeks later and I couldnt stop reading! It was just too exciting, I couldnt wait to read what would happen next.
I am extremely excited for your next book to come out!
Thank you so much for writing these elaborate books!
Hi Mrs. McCrite I`m Gracie and I luv ur books so much. I was the first at my library to read the first two books. Your books remind me of my life because my sister it blonde and is about the same age as Myra Sue,I live in a small town, live on a dirt road,I was born in April like April Grace`s name, and my name is Grace too. I can`t wait to read the rest of the series!
Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know you love my books! It really does sound like you and April Grace have a lot in common. (I hope your sister is not as much a pain for you as Myra Sue is for April!)
Look for the next April Grace book, Chocolate-Covered Baloney, in November, 2012.
My 14 yr old daughter asked me to get her a “good” book while at the bookstore. I came across “Cliques, hicks and ugly sticks”…The picture on the front cover caught my attention since my daughter is a red head and we live on a small farmette. I brought the book home…she told me it looked good but that there was a book before it…so back to the bookstore I went. She got “In front of God and Everybody” today…last copy on the shelf and she has not put it down.
Thank you so much, Kim, for taking the time to tell me this! It gives me “warm fuzzies” to know that she became engrossed in the story. If you would “like” my author page on Facebook (click above), it will help you keep up-to-date on my writing progress and on new books as they come out. I hope your daughter enjoys all the books in the “Confessions of April Grace” series. Please, tell her I said, “Thank you!”
Hi, I am Gretchen and I am 12 years old. Thank you so much for writing these books! Sometimes I like to pretend that I’m April Grace. I love, love, love these books! Can’t wait for Chocolate Covered Bologna! You are such a great influence to me.
You are an amazing writer. You have the, in my opinion, rare ability to blend humor, reality and tension in just the right way. That, and the books themselves are…well, great beyond words. There. That’s a sufficient description. Good as it’s going to get, anyhow. As a thirteen-year-old attempting to write my own novel, I look up to you as a writer, for all the earlier stated reasons.
Thank you so much for writing! Can’t wait for Chocolate Covered Baloney!
Thank you for your high praise! I’m so glad you enjoyed the books, and if your ability to write stories is as advanced as your ability to write a letter, I’m sure you will create an outstanding novel.
I hope you enjoy Chocolate-Covered Baloney! Please let me know.
Hello ,
My name is Becca and I am 12 almost 13. I read book one and now I am on book two . When I got finished the first book I couldn’t wait to read the next . I am just like April Grace . Her personality and mine mix very well . So when I was reading them I could relate and I truly did Laugh out loud! You are such an inspiration to me and I love that the books were Christian based and they really helped me in my daily life ! I absolutely can not wait until the third book comes out in august ! I am not a big fan of reading .. but when my mom gave me these i started reading and i couldnt not stop, one time I read for 2 hours straight and I didnt even notice ! That’s how good your books really are . I thank you for writing such great religious books to people . I know I really did enjoy reading them.
Thank you so much for telling me how my books have touched your life! Wow! Reading for 2 straight hours when you don’t really like to read is awesome. Good for you!
I’m glad you enjoyed April Grace and her wacky confessions, and I hope you’ll continue to love the series.
I LOVE your books. I’ve read the first one two times and i would read it a third time if you hadn’t come out with a second one which i just read in 4 hours. When i went to look for your book at the library, it was in the juvenile section. Well, since I’m 58 years old i was real surprised to find it there. But i don’t care because i can really identify with your stories and your style of writing. I am a country girl from Iowa whose family and country life upbringing is so similar to what your books portray. I can’t wait for number three. But in the meantime, i think i’ll read number two again. Thank you so much for clean, honest, down home humor.
Audrey, thank you for such heart-lifting/heart-warming comments! I’m so glad you enjoyed the books. I always say if my readers love reading the stories half as much as I love writing them, then I’ve accomplished my goal. The third book will be out next fall. I think you’ll like it.
Hi Ms.MCcrite!
In my church we have a library and I have been asking the librarian for any books she thinks that I might like and one day when I was checking out a few things she handed me a book I barely glanced at it and checked it out, she said someone else had read it and liked it, now let me tell you I have just recently become a reader, since I read your book in fact! I read it in six days, which for the size of it is like a record for me. I immediately snatched up the second one from our library the minute it was available and I just finished that one yesterday! I want to thank you for giving me the interest to read! So Please hurry up and write the third one! You should have sen the way I gawked and gasped as I read the second one “Cliques, hicks and ugly sticks” I plan to read them both again!
Thanks,
Signed: Wanting more!
GOD BLESS
You just made my day! Thank you so much for your enthusiastic comments. May you enjoy reading for many, many years to come. And may you enjoy other Confessions of April Grace as much as these first two!
(By the way, I have a daughter named Joy. One of my favorite names of all time.)
–K.D.
Aww you made me smile! Thank you so much! I would love it if you gave me the names of some of your other books! I would love to read them! I am 12 how old is your Joy? Thank you again!
My Joy is all grown up now. It seems like she should still be 12, but the years have a way of flying by! There will be a third “Confessions of April Grace” Chocolate-Covered Baloney next fall. I have three romance stories you might like, because they are sweet and clean. If you’ll go to your local public library and ask for books by Kathaleen Burr, they might have them or will be able to borrow them from another library for you. I hope you looked at April Grace’s Secret Confessions on my website. There are two short-stories for you to enjoy, and I will be adding more from time to time. Have a great day, Joy! Hugs to you.
Thanks, Joy. I’ll soon be working on the revisions with my copyeditor. I believe there is going to be a Facebook party, too, when the book is released, so keep checking in from time to time for details. If you haven’t gone to my author page ( http://www.facebook.com/K.D.McCrite ) and “liked” it, I recommend you do so; that way, you’ll get updates almost as soon as I know them.
I love your book “Cliques,Hicks, and Ugly Sticks.” I just got it for Christmas and haven’t read very much, but the part that I have read is really really good. I want to get all the books you write someday… Well that’s all I got to say so far..
KD, thanks for your encouraging note! I wanted to come visit, get to know you and boy (!), am I amazed at all you have written. What a surprise to find out you are the author behind Annie’s Attic mystery books as well!! You are giving me inspiration to journey on and hope for the future. Thank you for taking a moment to stop by this ol’ granny’s blog. I look forward to your posts as we follow along with Madison Woods, working on our plans. Thank you!
Thanks for your good words, and thanks for stopping by. I’ve been writing for a long time, and all that persistence finally paid off! I simply believed in myself, even when no one else did. I’m honored to be one of the Annie’s Attic mystery writers. Those books are fun to write. Well, actually all my books are fun to write! Good luck, Jeannie, in your own endeavors. I’m cheering you on!
Thanks, David. With the amount of novel writing I’m committed to, I don’t have a lot of time to write blog posts, but I’m actively looking for a few minutes to spend every day or two coming up with something new.

Hi Alita.
I’m so glad you enjoy the stories about that sassy April Grace. She can certainly get into some situations, can’t she?
The next book, Chocolate-Covered Baloney, will be out in November. I hope you enjoy it, too!

Thank you, Tess! Hope you found some interesting things to read while you were there. Come again!!
Awesome job, as always! This is so nicely set up.
Thanks, Gordon!
I’m SO enjoying your book, K.D.. Your book trailer is one of the best out there, and it’s helped me picture your characters as I read.
Thanks, Jan! I love the book trailer. I think my publisher did a terrific job. I’m so proud to be writing for such a great company.
Great site K.d. Nice to visit and see the variety you have.
